Learn to paint beautiful landscapes in your favorite medium: oil, pastel acrylic or watercolor. Students should be proficient in their chosen medium. We will start from photos and progress to painting on location when the weather permits. Every aspect of a landscape will be taught: skies, trees, water, rocks, cliffs, mountains and roads. Prerequisite: Beginner Portrait Painting from Tina Szajko. Getting and keeping a “likeness” will be stressed. Each class will provide a brief demonstration and lecture with the majority of the time devoted to individualized help. Students will work most of the time from a live model and learn how to accept commissions and keep records. Approximate cost of supplies is $150. A supply list will be provided at the first class. Take your children’s or grandchildren’s t-shirts from school, scouts, sports or vacations and make a quilt out of them. You will cut up the t-shirts and probably be able to complete the entire quilt in this class. Bring your t-shirts to the first class. The instructor will help you decide how much material and backing will be needed to complete the quilt. Limit 10 students.

0314A - Knitting and Crochet Project Seminar
Have big dreams for projects? This is a class for every skill level of knitters and crotchetier who want to work on specific projects (Such as sweaters or afghans) while improving their skills. Absolute beginners are very welcome. Bring your project ideas or unfinished projects and we will learn how to read patterns, how to make alterations for specific body shapes, how to create original designs and how to select tools and materials. We will also learn advanced finishing techniques and enhancements like fringes, lace finishes and other embellishments. Bring any knitting needles, hooks or yarn you may already have. Practice tools and materials will be provided for the first class for those who have not yet purchased these items. Limit 12 students.

Learn the proper way to string pearls. In this two-night workshop, you will learn how to knot between pearls to add strength and flexibility to your jewelry. You may knot beads close to one another or float them by leaving space between the beads. You will leave this workshop with a finished cultured pearl necklace and a “tin cup necklace”.
