0403A – Hunter Education


Conducted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, this course focuses on the prevention of accidents as well as the enhancement of hunting and outdoor values. Emphasis is placed on safe use of firearms, hunter ethics, and more. Exempt from registration fee by law. Required for certification: 12 class hours, 70% passing grade, $15 for Texas Parks & Wildlife materials payable to the instructor. Limit 20 students.

0405BDG – Caregiving Tips


This is an online course for those who are, or will be, caregivers for senior citizens. The class includes information on living arrangements, housing and transportation, health and nutrition, body changes and medication, government programs, insurance and legal affairs, and how to take care of yourself as the caregiver.
This is a self-paced online class for 30 days, 24 hrs. a day. All that is needed is an internet-ready computer, and e-mail account and an attitude for fun!

0405GS – Parenting Your Parents


Do you feel overwhelmed by the prospect of taking care of your aging parents? What would happen if you learned the skills to bring harmony to the family? This class provides mentoring and step-by-step techniques and strategies. Topics include: The evolving relationship between you and your parents - Confronting independence (e.g., living alone, driving, falls) - Getting cooperation from your siblings - Medical care option - Living arrangement options - Managing the finances - Where to go for support and resources for both yourself as a caregiver and your parents. Read lessons, participate in exercises, and hold live interactive discussions with instructor and fellow students in your on-line classroom. Runs for 6 weeks and is self-paced. American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric CPR, Adult, child and infant CPR and choking procedures. Completion cards are provided following the course; annual renewal is recommended and, in many areas, required. The course also includes information about blood borne pathogens and the automated external defibrillator (AED). This course is an American Heart Association course and the certifications are valid for two years.

American Heart Association Heartsaver Pediatric CPR and First Aid. Adult, child and infant CPR and first aid. This course is appropriate for the corporate, industrial, construction, medical, fitness, or child care professional, as well as anyone simply interested in preparedness. The course includes basic first aid and rescue topics such as hemorrhage control, burns, seizures, asthma, bites and stings, diabetic emergencies, back care, etc. The course is an American Heart Association course and the certifications are valid for two years.

This class is for everyone. It is a strengthening class using free weights, exertubes and steps. The more lean muscle you have, the more calories you burn. When you are leaner, stronger and increase your bone density, you’ll feel great! Class also includes core (abs and back) workout. Bring your own weight, mat and 8” steps for the best result from your workout. If you don’t have steps, come anyway.

Stress is one of the key factors of psychosomatic diseases and a variety of emotional diseases. We cannot eliminate stress in interpersonal relationships and our work environment but we can manage it well. A mismanaged stress leads to distress whereas a well-managed stress helps you grow. Learn how stress impacts your health and work performance. Identify “Stressors” in your daily living and help yourself and your family & friends by reducing the stressors. This course will teach you how to use “The Martial Art of Mind” to dissolve your unhealthy stress. A Zen approach will be practiced during all classes.
